Vendor Agreement & Eligibility
This Vendor Terms & Merchant Agreement ("Vendor Terms") governs all student entrepreneurs, business owners, and sellers operating stores on the Umarn WhatsApp Platform.
To onboard as a vendor, you must be a verified student or local business within the supported campus territory, complete the guided WhatsApp onboarding flow, and submit mandatory identity verification documents.
Commission Model & Payout Ledger
Umarn operates on a performance-only commission model. Joining and listing products on Umarn is completely free.
Vendor Payout Guarantee
- Zero Upfront Fees: No monthly subscriptions or store listing fees during the beta phase.
- Commission Deducted at Sale: Platform commission (10%) is automatically deducted at checkout.
- Instant Payout Release: Funds are transferred directly to your bank account via Paystack immediately when the buyer confirms delivery (or after the 12-hour SLA auto-confirmation).
- Zero Fake Transfer Risk: You only receive orders backed by real-time Paystack webhook payment confirmations.
Catalogue Accuracy & Identity Verification (KYC)
As a verified vendor on Umarn, you agree to:
- Upload real photos and accurate prices for all items listed in your WhatsApp catalogue.
- Maintain accurate stock counts. Setting out-of-stock items as available damages campus customer trust.
- Upload a valid student ID or national identity document during onboarding. All KYC documents are stored in encrypted private cloud storage.
Delivery Choice: Self-Delivery vs Campus Riders
During shop setup, vendors may select their preferred fulfillment model:
- Platform Rider Dispatch: Umarn auto-assigns a verified campus dispatch rider to pick up and deliver the order.
- Self-Delivery: The vendor handles drop-off personally. The vendor receives the buyer's location pin and clicks [Item Dropped Off] in WhatsApp to trigger buyer confirmation.
Store Suspension & Deactivation Rules
Umarn reserves the right to suspend or permanently deactivate a vendor store under the following circumstances:
- Repeated failure to fulfill accepted orders (>15% cancellation rate)
- Selling prohibited, illegal, or counterfeit goods
- Attempting to solicit off-platform direct bank transfers from buyers discovered via Umarn
- Maintaining a vendor rating below 3.5 out of 5 stars over 10+ completed orders
