Scope of Buyer Terms
These Buyer Terms of Service ("Buyer Terms") govern your rights and obligations when searching for, ordering, paying for, and receiving goods or services through the Umarn WhatsApp platform at supported university campuses.
By sending an order request or interacting with the Umarn bot as a buyer, you agree to these Buyer Terms in addition to the general Umarn Terms of Service.
Buyer Escrow Protection
Every purchase on Umarn is backed by our 100% Escrow Protection guarantee. When you complete checkout via Paystack, your payment is held safely by Umarn — not transferred directly to the vendor.
Buyer Inspection & Release Window
- Item Drop-off Notification: When the vendor or rider arrives, you receive a WhatsApp notification.
- Physical Inspection: You have the right to inspect physical items for damage, quantity accuracy, or defects prior to confirming.
- Confirmation Prompt: Tap [Confirm Received] in WhatsApp once satisfied to release funds to the vendor.
- 12-Hour SLA Auto-Confirm: If an order is delivered and no dispute is logged within 12 hours, funds auto-release to the vendor.
Buyer Obligations & Delivery Pins
As a buyer on Umarn, you agree to:
- Provide an accurate WhatsApp location pin and clear hostel/room directions during checkout.
- Be available at your designated drop-off point when the dispatch rider arrives.
- Refrain from fraudulent dispute claims or false non-receipt reports.
- Treat student dispatch riders and vendors with dignity and respect.
Refund & Cancellation Rules
You are eligible for a 100% full refund under the following verified conditions:
- Vendor Non-Fulfillment: The vendor fails to accept or dispatch your order within 7 minutes.
- Item Defect / Mismatch: The delivered goods are materially damaged, expired, or wrong item.
- Rider Non-Delivery: The rider fails to reach your location pin.
Refunds are credited back to your original bank account via Paystack within 24 hours of dispute resolution.
